Hey, hey, Johnny

Sometimes I feel like doing things no one else seems to want to do, and making things nobody else will want to see. Lately I have had a passion for utilizing those old Geocities templates. I like to see what I can do with those old graphics from when the web was young. So I made a journal for Johnny that I'm sure no one will ever see, and that's okay, because it has ads on it, anyway.

The doll house

I have been following this thread on Den of Angels about doll housing to get ideas for a more official dwelling for my kids. I love the Christmas lights around the box. A comfy, cozy sleep place . Gives me warm fuzzy feelings about being a kid and having my own room. And I like the simplicity. This is tight, and I love the message board. This one is crazy, yet fascinating . Sweet, charming , also a nice feeling of space. This room is the most amazing of them all . Melts my heart with doilies . Plants and things on windowsill. Pretty, girly . My best idea so far is to go with my original wall shelves. Ophelia and Shelley can share the large one, and Johnny can have the small one. The small one is too high up. It needs to be moved lower than the large one, so that they are still staggered. Below will be the strawberry bed, when it's finished. I think it would be cute to have a little ladder by the shelves for the kids to go up and down. It would allow for a sense of

Doll or not doll

When I am writing in my doll journal or posting pictures, it means that I am doing some doll stuff and otherwise having a life. When I am not posting in my journal or participating in any discussions, that means that I am obsessed with doll stuff. Today is one of those days. Finally, I said, look, I'm going to go to Coffee Haus. The house is pretty much in order, now that I found that anti-static dusting spray. I'm going to go to town. Sooner or later I'm going to have a job, we're going to move, or both, and there won't be time for this any more, so I need to get it straight now. I try to tell myself that doll photos and sites don't make themselves, that other people invest a lot of time in this. I have my strengths and I have my limitations. My strengths are that I can write stories, I can take pretty good pictures. My limits are that I can't make a web site from scratch unless the inspiration for it comes down on me from Heaven above, and that I can

Flower maiden

I am having so much fun with my new digital scrapbook software. This is a card for my little flower maiden.

Jessica Bride Doll by Donna Rubert

"Jessica" is a bride doll by Donna Rubert, sold through Paradise Galleries. Jessica's gown is ravishing —  truly my ideal in vintage details. I wouldn't be able to resist the doll if she had been sculpted by Tom Francirek. Images taken from Worthpoint .

What is begun in anger

ends in shame, according to Benjamin Franklin. I started my ball-jointed doll house yesterday after an unsuccessful writing session at the coffee shop. On coming home, I was too irritated to write stories, and I felt like using my hands instead of my mind. The doll house, which I have named The Conservatory, is a black plastic bookcase with four shelves, open on all sides. The bottom shelf has been designated as storage, and there rests a wicker trunk with extra toys and clothes not on display. The third shelf from the top is Johnny's room, and this is the room I am decorating first. As with the other doll rooms, it consists of odds and ends, pieces from other projects I never finished or simply junk. Very quickly his room started to take shape as I matched things according to size, color and theme. Most of his things are organic in color and material, and I quickly settled on an African theme. I papered his floor in a warm-toned geometric print and set up his electric guitar and w
