Victorian's profile

My companion's age: 20's

My companion's bio:

Victorian was left much to himself in his childhood. He lived in a vast but near-empty white, dilapidated mansion in the wilderness. As a child he was sensitive to the feelings of others, especially to sorrow and unresolved issues. He devoted himself to studying and sensitizing himself to the unseen inhabitants of his dilapidated home. On warm afternoons he listened to footsteps mingle with leaves sliding across the floors of the unkept upper rooms. He sensed and came to know companions he never saw or heard. He knew their sorrows and why they wandered restlessly. He connected with them more intimately through antiquated objects in the mansion he found, objects that had belonged to them. He accumulated these objects to channel the feelings of his unseen companions and bring them solace.

As a result of his strange play, Victorian was a solemn boy. He had no mother or father of whom anyone knew. When he became older he decided to pursue the stories of his unseen companions with greater energy, to find traces of them outside of the isolated mansion.

This led to a long journey through the wilderness. Victorian travels in tattered elegance. His possessions belong to a bygone era. He keeps to old traditions, but there is humility in the age and wear of his clothing and possessions.

My companion's likes and dislikes:

Likes tea, tea time and established meals, appropriately outfitted with tablecloth and utensils, very old mirrors, bronze objects, antiquated patterns, especially wallpaper, silence, moments of contemplation and inwardness.

Dislikes rudeness, greed, falseness, elimination of old ways, callousness and lack of appreciation for those who have come before.

My companion's style, favorite types of clothes/toys: Victorian/1970's-styled clothing, objects of natural material like wood or cotton, or of antiquated material like iron or bakelite, kitchen furniture and implements, fine toiletries and cologne.

My companion's personality: Gentle and accepting, affirming, non-judgmental, somewhat particular in his habits and singular in his mind, preferring solitude or one companion at a time.

We live in: Texas, United States

Bonnie the Beautiful Bride, a 1950's-1960's vinyl jointed doll from the Deluxe Reading Company

View my eBay listing here . Bonnie the Beautiful Bride is a 25" vinyl doll from the Deluxe Reading Company produced between the 1950's-1960's. I bought her secondhand a year ago, and she has since been displayed in my non-smoking home in a display case. I have pet cats and birds, but they have only been in the general vicinity of this doll. Bonnie wears an exquisite vintage bridal ensemble in ivory lace and tulle over a hoopskirt and panties. Her "fingerless" gloves, veil and bouquet are of the same lace and ivory color as her gown.    Bonnie has strawberry-blonde rooted hair and green eyes which open and close. Her arm and leg joints move but are slightly stiff with age.     Bonnie and her ensemble are in flawless vintage condition as far as I can tell. She comes with gown, hoopskirt and matching veil, bouquet and gloves, panties and plastic high-heel sandals. She will come in her original box, which is not in mint condition, but worn with age and marked ...

Korean Gothic Imaginary

Today has been such a huge day for me, even though I haven't left the house and have just done work all day long. I went forward with emailing my prospective advisor about my dissertation topic on Korean literature, and he agreed to supervise this dissertation. Korean literature, and Hallyu 1.0, topics so important to me, will be legitimated as part of my scholarly identity. I feel like today is a kind of spiritual wedding day for my scholarly career (although the dissertation defense will more literally be that). My goal is to become a professor of Korean literature and that dream, as of today, is much closer. Almost fatefully, I happened to see this Soom Super Gem Girl sculpt that the vendor posted on Den of Angels. I was not in any danger of forgetting the elements of Korean imaginaries that make my blood run cold and my heart drop into the pit of my stomach. "Gross beauty," I have called it, but I really mean it in the nicest way.  A number of Edgar Alla...
