I think it's so great you can reintroduce yourself to your childhood favorites. How endearing that must be! Are you ever surprised at what you find? I often wonder what I would think and feel if I saw my childhood elephant again. Or perhaps, my Barbie, Tammy or Skipper.

Yes, I am surprised! I bought these not thinking I had ever had them in my childhood, but I kept getting flickers of memory from some of the Skipper outfits, and now I suspect I may have had that set. Sometimes seeing the dolls when they come in the mail is like seeing an old friend, and sometimes I'm surprised, and they look very different to me as an adult. My Ice Capades Barbie is like that for me.

I had a Tammy doll as a child. I liked her because she was more realistic to me than Barbie. She had wider hips and waist, smaller bust and flat feet. Yet I was still surprised when I saw her in real life as an adult. I couldn't see the appeal. Yet I was smitten with her as a child.

I have seen the Tammy dolls in Haute Doll-- they are really cute! I have gotten used to the real Ice Capades Barbie versus my memories of her and truly love her, but it is funny how our perspectives alter. I ended up feeling a little chagrined at going to such trouble to have her again, and am glad I didn't go for the NIB $$$ option!

I can't believe it. It looks like the rusted gates to The Garden of Virtues are going to be laboriously parted by small articulated resin hands after all once more. I am glad that I am buying Lanie's Angel, but I am also a little sad. I remember disposing of Dresden along with my other dolls. I was in a vicious rage. I hesitated over Dresden's prone form, thinking, goodness, even I don't think of her as a BJD, is this really necessary? And then, blindly, cutting the strings. I can't believe I am actually talking about this now. I have not talked about it before. I regretted losing her afterward, because I did not really need to part with her. She was a sweet, special presence, a little woman. I have kept all of her eyes, wigs and clothes. Of course I will never forget the moments in which I divested all of my BJD's of their clothing, wigs and eyes. The other day Henry came around with a little velcro he had found and I grew faint, knowing that it had come fro
